PROTEST MESSAGES
On the 78th anniversary of the Nakba, hundreds of protesters rallied and marched through Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, on May 16 in solidarity with Palestine and the Palestinian people.
"The Germans destroyed our families & homes – Don't you destroy our hopes"
The original banner was famously hung on the side of the refugee ship Theodor Herzl (and in some similar historic photos, the Exodus 1947). It carried a direct, heartbreaking plea to the British authorities who were enforcing strict immigration quotas at the time.
The banner was a desperate call for the British government to allow the displaced Holocaust survivors to enter the country and rebuild their lives. Unfortunately, upon arriving at the Port of Haifa, the Royal Navy intercepted the Theodor Herzl and forced the refugees into detention camps in Cyprus.
Zionism is Nazism. Israel is the Fourth Reich.
